[edit] Adding New Pages

If you want to create a new page, just go to the url where the article WOULD be and click the edit tab. So, for example, if you want to create a page called 'Using Rss Aggregators' you can just go to this url (just add the title of the post to the end of the normal url but with _'s instead of spaces):

http://globalvoicesonline.org/wiki/article/Using_Rss_Aggregators

When you visit the url you will be able to use the 'edit' button at the top to add content, then just save and the page is ready. You should make sure to create some links to the page so that people can find it though.

[edit] Creating Links

You can create links within a wiki page (like this homepage) to other pages by using the 'internal link' button in the editor or by just entering the name of the article you want to link to in the text inside square brackets. So if you put the following text in your article it would create a link like Using Rss Aggregators :

Using Rss Aggregators

A great way to create a page is to add a link to it from another page, then follow the link and create the page once you're there.

[edit] Using Wiki Categories

The last thing you need to do to keep the wiki organized is add categories to your pages so that people can find all similar pages. Categories should be standard across many pages, so look for an existing category you could use rather than creating a new one.

To add a wiki category to an article, just add text like the following (with the category you want to use) :

That will automatically create a link to the category page at the bottom of the article. Category pages (like this one) list all articles tagged with that category, so they can be very useful to see if there is related documentation or a similar article.

If you just want to LINK to the category page (like i do above on the homepage) then add a colon before the category link inside the square brackets:

:Category:Rising Voices Guides

[edit] Formatting and Link Examples:

- Add page to category called "Category Name"

Internal Link - Link to another wiki page called Internal Link

External Link - External Link, shows text after url like External Link

italic - italic

bold - bold

==Section Heading== - Large Heading

===Subsection Heading=== - Medium Heading

====Sub-Subsection Heading==== - Small Heading
