Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

Internet Relay Chat, or IRC, is a protocol for chatting over the internet. You access an IRC room through a client by giving it the server and room you want to join.

The Global Voices IRC Server is:

irc.freenode.net 

The Room is named

#globalvoices

IRC Chat in a web browser

You can log into any IRC room inside your browser window by logging in at Mibbit.com

- Click > "Start Chatting Now" (wait for the page to load fully)

In the dropdown menu select: "freenode"

Where is says "Nick" write your nickname, where it says "Channel" write "#globalvoices"

Click > Go


ChatZilla the Firefox Extension

If you use Firefox, you can use the chat extension called ChatZilla. Activate Chatzilla and click on the URL [1] to take you directly to the WordPress IRC channel.
