Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

Internet Relay Chat, or IRC, is a protocol for chatting over the internet. You access an IRC room through a client by telling it the server and room you want to join.

IRC Chat in a web browser
You can log into the Global Voices IRC room in your browser window by accessing Mibbit.com
Click Start Chatting Now (wait for the page to load fully)
In the drop-down menu select: freenode
Where is says "Nick" write your nickname, where it says "Channel" write #globalvoices
ChatZilla the Firefox Extension
If you use Firefox, you can use the chat extension called ChatZilla. Activate Chatzilla and click on the URL [1] to take you directly to the WordPress IRC channel.
